CCC Will Offer Courses that Promote Cross-Cultural Awareness

Posted: Thursday, November 07, 2013

Corning Community College (CCC) faculty will offer courses in partnership with international faculty in 2014-2015 through The State University of New York (SUNY) Center for Collaborative Online International Learning (COIL). COIL courses provide a unique opportunity for CCC students that promote cross-cultural awareness. Classes have a blended format with traditional face-to-face sessions taking place separately at CCC and the partnering, international institution, while collaborative student work takes place online.

Faculty and students can learn about the interdisciplinary collaboration on Thursday, November 7, 2013 at an open forum from 12:30 p.m. to 1:45 p.m. in the Triangle Lounge, Commons Building on the Spencer Hill campus.

Panelists include a CCC student who has completed more than one COIL course, COIL staff, and representatives from other SUNY colleges who offer COIL courses. Today's students will experience a global society in the workplace, and CCC prepares graduates by offering COIL courses involving students from other countries through online course delivery. CCC graduates will be better prepared for their chosen career by "visiting" another country and learning about a different culture without physically leaving the United States.
