The Corning Community College Development Foundation is pleased to announce the unanimous appointment of Dr. Charles Stebbins on September 9, 2009. Dr. Stebbins is a Corning native, graduating from Corning Free Academy in 1959. From 1964-1967, he worked at Corning Community College in Student Services. After completing coursework for a doctorate in Community College Leadership at the University of Florida in 1971, Stebbins began a 35-year career in community college
administration. During that time he served as Dean of Students, Academic Dean, Provost, Chief Operating Officer, and President with community colleges in Virginia and Kentucky; and as Associate Executive Director, of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Atlanta, Georgia.

During his 13-year tenure as President of Elizabethtown Community College, Dr. Stebbins gained experience in fundraising, including success in the College's first Major Gifts Campaign. He is particularly interested in focusing attention on planned giving opportunities at Corning Community College.

Dr. Stebbins and his wife Janis retired to Painted Post, New York, in late 2006 to enjoy the amenities of the area and to be close to his 93-year old mother, Eleanor, who currently resides at Green Meadows.

The Corning Community College Development Foundation was incorporated as a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization on September 30, 1982. Its mission is to support the interests of Corning Community College by soliciting, receiving and managing assets in order to contribute to the long-range goals, objectives, and success of Corning Community College.

Through its ongoing efforts, the Foundation provides scholarship assistance for students, funding for professional development of faculty and staff, state-of-the-art equipment, and support for other specific projects at the College.
